Facts and Figures 
The New Brunswick facility has been in continuous
operation since land was first purchased in 1905. While its focus has
changed over the years from a Manufacturing facility, it continues to
play a key role in achieving Bristol-Myers Squibb's mission to extend
and enhance human life as a Research & Development facility. Currently
the New Brunswick facility occupies approximately 100 acres.
Economic Development
- New Brunswick personnel are members at large of the North Brunswick
Local Emergency Planning Council (LEPC).
- The Emergency Services group includes a Structural Fire Brigade,
First Aid Squad, Confined Space Rescue Team, and Hazardous Materials
Team that has been serving the facility for over 50 years and proudly
provides mutual aid to North Brunswick Township.
- The New Brunswick facility received, and continues to maintain, full
Accreditation by the American Industrial Hygiene Association for its
Industrial hygiene laboratory. This accreditation is awarded only to
Laboratories that demonstrate the highest standards of quality, Professionalism,
and customer satisfaction.
- Through an innovative carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) program, the need
for CTS surgery has been virtually eliminated at the New Brunswick site.
The CTS program benefits employees and saves the company approximately
$350,000 a year.
Community and Social Progress
- Employees at the New Brunswick facility sponsor "New Leaf" - an environmental
education program for the Delaware-Raritan Girl Scout Council that encourages
girls to learn about the importance of trees and to participate in a
community-wide tree planting. Since 1991, more than 350 trees have been
planted throughout New Jersey. The "New Leaf" program has received awards
from the National Arbor Day Foundation, the National Environmental Development
Association, and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection
(NJDEP). It has served as the model for a corporate reforestation program
proposed by NJDEP.
- The New Brunswick site has been recognized as a leader in the Governor's
Occupational Safety and Health Awards program for the past 20 years.

Environmental Performance
- The New Brunswick facility has developed a brochure
(361k PDF) to help raise awareness about local threatened and endangered
species. This brochure also encourages taking steps in order to protect
these species. In addition, a brochure (2 MB
PDF) educating our employees about stormwater management has been developed.
- The New Brunswick facility actively participates in various recycling
programs and recycles in excess of 125 tons of cardboard and office
paper annually.
- The laboratory is among the first in the nation to receive accreditation
by the American Industrial Hygiene Association under the new ISO 17025
system. In addition, the laboratory has taken on an expanded role in
the areas of methods development, surrogate testing, and surface contaminant
evaluation.
- Achieved OSHA's VPP status for the Building 55 Pilot Plant &
Building 115 Clinical Development Projects.
- This facility is required to report annually on releases of toxic
chemicals to the air, water, and land under Section 313 of the Superfund
Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA). This website contains links
to the U.S. government's toxic release inventory (TRI) database.
- The facility has adopted the Yellow Giant Hyssop (Agastache eptoides)
as part of the company's Sustainability
2010 goal to encourage each facility and business to help protect
endangered species and habitats.
