Economic Performance

Bristol-Myers Squibb’s financial health is critical not only to our growth and development as a company, but has implications for our stakeholders as well. Our employees, shareholders, suppliers, contractors, and the communities in which we operate are impacted by our economic performance.

This section of the website highlights our direct and indirect economic impact on our key stakeholders, including:

Management Approach

Bristol-Myers Squibb's management approach to our economic performance, market presence, and indirect economic impacts are discussed below.

Policy

The Bristol-Myers Squibb Pledge is the overarching policy regarding our economic performance. In it, "we pledge—to our patients and customers, to our employees and partners, to our shareholders and neighbors, and to the world we serve—to act on our belief that the priceless ingredient of every product is the honor and integrity of its maker." The Pledge specifically addresses our commitments to key stakeholders: employees, suppliers and partners, shareholders, and the communities where we live and work, the countries where we do business, and the world we serve.

Goals and Performance

Our goal is to continue to realize our mission of extending and enhancing life well into the future in a way that builds sustainable long-term growth and leadership
for our company. Most importantly—through our commitment to focus, innovation and compassion—we want to provide new hope and help for patients facing serious health challenges.

Our economic performance can be measured through our investment in world-class research and development facilities, where we are looking for new and better treatments for cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and other serious illnesses and conditions. It can be measured through our history of successful partnerships to develop and deliver important new medicines to people who need them. And our performance can be measured through our efforts to help expand people's access to quality medicines and health care, through worldwide public/private partnerships like SECURE THE FUTURE® -- our pioneering $150 million HIV/AIDS initiative in southern and western Africa -- and programs like the Patient Assistance Foundation and Together Rx Access.
